Hurt in a car accident? Start your recovery now.
MVA Physiotherapy in Burlington, Ontario
After a collision, the right treatment in the first weeks makes a real difference. Our physiotherapists assess your injuries, build a recovery plan, and bill your auto insurer directly — you focus on healing, we handle the paperwork.
What we treat
Pain after a collision doesn't always show up right away.
Some injuries hurt immediately; others surface days later as the adrenaline fades. All of these are worth assessing — even after a 'minor' collision.
The most common collision injury — neck pain, stiffness, and reduced movement from the rapid back-and-forth motion of impact.
Low-back and mid-back strain from the force of impact or awkward bracing — often worse in the days after the accident.
Tension headaches and light-headedness frequently follow neck injuries. We screen carefully and coordinate concussion care when it's indicated.
Bruising, rotator cuff strains, and stiffness where the seatbelt or steering wheel took the force.
Generalized muscle soreness, guarding, and reduced mobility that can settle in if not treated early.
Hesitation with driving, shoulder-checking, or daily activities after a collision — graded exposure and exercise rebuild trust in your body.
Our approach
What happens after you book.
Ontario auto insurance includes accident benefits that cover physiotherapy — you don't need to wait for anything to settle before starting treatment.
Report the collision to your auto insurance company and ask for an accident benefits claim number. Not sure how? Call us — we walk people through this every week.
A 60-minute physiotherapy assessment documents your injuries properly and builds your treatment plan — important for both your recovery and your claim.
We prepare and submit the insurance treatment forms and bill your auto insurer directly. In most cases there's little or nothing out of pocket.
Hands-on therapy, graded exercise, and a clear progression back to work, driving, and the things you'd rather be doing.
Frequently asked questions
Common questions after a car accident
Do I have to pay for physiotherapy after a car accident?+
In Ontario, auto insurance policies include accident benefits that cover physiotherapy after a collision, regardless of who was at fault. We bill your auto insurer directly, so in most cases you pay little or nothing out of pocket. Bring your claim number and insurer details to your first visit — or call us at (905) 635-5711 and we'll help you sort it out.
Do I need a doctor's referral to start MVA physiotherapy?+
No. Physiotherapists are primary care providers in Ontario, so you can book directly with us. Seeing your family doctor after an accident is still a good idea for your records, but you don't need to wait for a referral to begin treatment.
How soon after the accident should I start treatment?+
As soon as you can. Early assessment and gentle, guided movement generally lead to better recoveries than waiting to 'see if it settles.' Even if the collision was days or weeks ago, it's not too late to start.
My pain didn't start until a few days after the crash. Is that normal?+
Very. Adrenaline and inflammation patterns mean whiplash and soft-tissue pain often peak 24 to 72 hours after a collision — sometimes later. Delayed-onset pain is still related to the accident and is still covered by accident benefits.
What paperwork is involved, and who fills it out?+
Ontario MVA claims use standardized insurance forms, including treatment plans your provider submits. We prepare and submit these for you, keep proper clinical records, and can provide treatment reports your insurer requests. You focus on recovery — the paperwork is our job.
What if I was hurt at work instead of in a car accident?+
Workplace injuries run through WSIB rather than auto insurance — and we handle those too, including direct WSIB billing. See our workplace injury page or call us and we'll point you the right way.
